Garden

30 acres of garden, woodland, meadow, orchards, vegetable garden and flower garden

The land has been managed organically for over 40 years.

The woodlands, broad-leaved with a larch plantation, have public footpaths through them including the Wye Valley Walk. They are splendid for bluebells in the spring and are ideal for bird-watching - keep an eye out for fallow deer as well!

The vegetable gardens are in the shelter of a high stone wall at the back of the house where most of the soft fruit and vegetables are grown. Behind the wall is a large apple orchard with a variety of eaters and cookers.

On the south side of the house is the 3.5 acres of plantsman's garden.

There is a mix of open areas with many Mediterranean plants around a circular lawn (ideal for outdoor workshops), shaded areas, ponds and herb garden.

There is a large collection of colourful and unusual plants in the garden including salvias, hostas, ferns and snowdrops in the winter.

The gardens are available at all times for house guests to explore or relax in. There are garden seats in various places.
